Vernal Pool Mapping

We have a project underway where we are creating a database of vernal pools, and areas where Vernal Pool Obligate Species breed.

The spotted salamander is one of the indicator species that are associated with vernal pools. They along with other vernal pool obligate species make a mass migration to these woodland pools to breed on the first warm rainy night of spring. Chances are, if you came upon a spotted salamander crossing the road, you could follow and it would lead you to a vernal pool.

If you know of any of these types of wetlands, can collect a little information about it and can show us on a map or with a picture, we'd like to include it in our database.
