2012 EVENTS

DINNER & PROGRAM

 Forest Owners Dinner & Program on Feral Swine – January 26, 2012
The NY Forest Owners Association Southern Tier Chapter will hold its annual Pot Luck Dinner and Program on January 26th, 2012 at the Town of Chenango Community Hall, 1529 Upper Front Street (Route 12), Binghamton.  The program for the evening will feature Justin Gansowski, a biologist with USDA APHIS Wildlife Services.  He will present a program about feral swine in New York, focusing on their current range and numbers, and the ecological and economic damage they cause.  This meeting is open to non-members.  The dish to pass dinner will start at 6:00 p.m.; the presentation starts at 7:00 p.m.  Please call Jerry Michael at 648-2941 in advance if you will be attending the dinner. 

WORKSHOPS

Learn How to Write a Business Plan - Monday Jan 30th, 6pm
Come and learn the importance of a business plan in your farm operation and how to write one easily. This class is taught by Ginny Robert, who has helped hundreds of businesses write their business plans as well as a previous director of the Entrepreneurial Assistance Program through Broome Community College. Rural & Forested Landowner Opportunities Workshop - Sat Feb 25th, 9am-12:30pm
We'll be exploring the multitude of opportunities for your rural and forested land, including growing nut trees, growing berries, small-scale timber harvests, silvopasturing and more. FARM DAYS

Annual Farm Days at the Mall - March 10th & 11th
Join us as we celebrate all that Broome county agriculture has to offer our community. This is a great opportunity for all our farms to create a better awareness of their operation and products. If you're interested in participating, contact Brian Aukema at (607) 772-8953 or bja14@cornell.edu
